Topic: Healthy Soil, Healthy Plants, Healthy People: Using agriculture to drive health outcomes
Conner Wear, Agricultural Technical Manager at Gardens for Health International, joins us from Rwanda to speak about the importance of promoting agricultural practices that nourish both the land and the people who farm it. Conner is the principle architect of Gardens for Health’s nutrition-focused approach to home garden design, and serves on the Rwandan Ministry of Agriculture’s Technical Working Groups on Soil Science and Agriculture Extension. He was recently appointed team leader for a research project coordinated by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, the Humid Tropics project and Bioversity International, focused on the provisioning of iron fortified beans and Vitamin A rich bananas for improved nutrition.
